This is not what a lot of people may like to read about but I feel there is a need to let the average Nigerians know these fact.

Changing the World is good but start with your locality and Nation first. [A1technologies]

A lot of young Nigerians want to acquire programming skill, some for the money and leisure while few, for the undying passion of being part of something great that can and will always change the world for the better.

Programming has played a vital and crucial role in the World today as we all know, it has also made a lot of lives meaningful. To know you can acquire such power to change the world. Designing and building Applications for all, an Application that solves drastic problems for the benefit of mankind? It’s the skill human power accessible than can change the World just by changing every individual way of thinking in problem solving.

Today I will focus on Nigerians. What does it mean to be a Developer in Nigeria?

First of all, What is a Developer? A developer is an individual that builds and create software and applications. He or she writes, debugs and executes the source code of a software application. A developer is also known as a software developer, computer programmer, programmer, software coder or software engineer.

The ability to know and comprehend that there’s a lot you can do with a computer today and how every thing to you on the internet can affect lives positively is beautiful. Now what does this means to Nigerians?

Nigeria has everyday problems that’s rising above Nigerians yet nothing is been done. The solution has nothing do with the Government rather it rest on every citizen. Developers have greater chance utilising this opportunity because they are better problem solver. Let’s look at three major problems in Nigeria and give a run down solution.

  1. Unemployment: The rate of unemployment will continue to rise above the margin because most graduate does not possess problem solving skill. Being a graduate simply means “Provide Solutions for the benefit of Mankind and make profit while doing it”. Sadly we become graduates to continue doing what has been laid down in ages, there’s no room for research and implementation of skill to productivity. Today, most undergraduates with demanding skills are employing graduates.

2. Education and university systems: We all know that this system has failed us but its should not be an hindrance to stop you from actualising your dream for the betterment of your Nation. Why spend five year or more and graduate with no Job nor acquired skill to help you actualise your dream and hope for future generation? Imagine having programming skill for the period of five years…that makes you a very effective and efficient developer on demand!

3. The Economy: On this ground there is nothing to say rather than to tell you the Government isn’t the cause of it but you. Yup that’s right. If a Nation have lots of problem solvers creating solutions here and there, this will boost the Economy of the Nation. American is believed to be rich, why’s that? I’ll tell you. It’s because the “Riches men is the world are Americans” but what are these men doing that Nigerians aren’t doing?? Innovating at a very young age!

If Developers in Nigeria will learn to lay that example, providing solutions for the country alone; not a global solution but within the Country first, this will change everything. Unemployment would not be a problem as well as the Educational system nor the Economy. This is what it simply means to be a Developer! Not learning all the programming language and the same principle is been done over and over again.

I hope Nigerians would share this thought and finally for once use that “super power[programming skill]” to bring a change for our future.

“Nigeria: poverty capital of the world. Home to the richest black person, the richest politicians and the wealthiest pastor in the world. The Math is indeed Mathing”
